The team

Cripple Creek is a company born out of love and passion for the Siberian Husky and sled dog sport. Bart and Nanoek came together while they were both active in this sport in their own way. Bart participates in competitions with a sprint team and Nanoek organizes cart rides. Since they've been together, Cripple Creek has grown tremendously. It is now not just a recreational team, our best dogs are also used for Bart's competition team.

But we are not there with only Bart and Nanoek, we are grateful every day for the help of our regular volunteer Peter & of course all the interns who come every week to take care of all the dogs!

Nanook

Nanoek grew up among the husky hair. Her parents also owned their own Siberian Husky kennel, called Cripple Creek. The kennel's name was inspired by the song "Cripple Creek Ferry" by Neil Young and a small Alaskan town called Cripple Creek. The largest sled dog race 'the Iditarod' passes this village, not every year, sometimes they do a slightly different route.

In August 2012 she went to Sweden for an internship and ended up staying here for almost 5 years, working on a tourist sled dog company with more than 70 Siberian huskies. After 5 years she wanted this for herself. In 2017 she returned to the Netherlands together with Vita (her husky from Sweden). She did a litter with this and she kept Nahani from this. Since then she has been busy founding Cripple Creek.

Nanoek is responsible for the daily care of the dogs, breeding, activities and trainees.

Bart

Bart has been active as a trainer of German Shepherds for years, so he has learned a lot from this when it comes to dog behavior. Through friends he came into contact with the Siberian Husky and the sled dog sport. He also dragged Gert into this and since then they have been working together a lot with their competition team.

Bart is the one we call when we start training with the dogs, when things need to be built, broken down or fixed and when the dogs are annoying. Bart only has to stand by and the dogs are completely good angels again!

alysha

Alysha has been doing an internship at Cripple Creek 2 days a week since January 2023. Alysha is doing the MBO Animal Care course at the Zone college in Hardenberg.

Alysha is a very fit and active lady, she is especially good with feeding the dogs and sees clearly if a dog is getting too fat or too thin andn knows how to deal with this.

Alysha can also be found with us regularly on Sundays & public holidays and will also guide during hikes during the spring and summer.

Romy

Romy has been doing an internship at Cripple Creek 1 day a week since school year 2022/2023. Romy is doing the MBO Animal Care course at the Zone college in Almelo.

Romy is very good at training the puppies, she is very consistent and clear. She regularly practices on one of our dogs for her grooming elective at her school. Sometimes huskies also go to school with her.

Nine

Nine loopt stage bij Cripple Creek sinds najaar 2023. Zij studeert MBO Paraveterinair op het Zone College in Hardenberg. Nine haar stage periode is bijna voorbij, maar ze zal na haar stage nog veel vrijwillig bij ons te vinden zijn om te helpen. Nine vindt het erg leuk om dingen te ondernemen en te organiseren. Ze is regelmatig als gids mee met hikes.

Laura

Laura loopt stage bij Cripple Creek sinds augustus 2023. Zij studeert MBO diermanagement op het Zone College in Almelo. Buiten haar stage dagen om is Laura veel vrijwillig bij ons te vinden om te helpen. Laura loopt graag rond met de camera om foto's van de honden te maken. Ze is ook regelmatig als gids mee met hikes.

Peter

Peter has been working voluntarily at Cripple Creek Huskies since 2020, even before Bart arrived he was already helping Nanoek.rand making, training dogs, stepping, you name it. Peter does it all!

Since 2023, Peter is standard 2 mornings a week at Cripple Creek and we call him our 'kennel supervisor'. Together with the trainees, he ensures that not only the kennels, but also everything around them are kept clean & tidy.
